Spelthorne Mu­seum looks at the history of the area known as Spel­thorne. It features Stone Age tools, Ro­man artefacts, a 1738 fire engine, and Vic­to­rian mem­o­ra­bilia.

Shere Museum

In Gom­shall Lane at Shere you will find Shere Mu­seum. This features some interesting bygones, mainly from Vic­to­rian times to the 1950s, plus local history and temporary ex­hi­bi­tions.

The Light­box is a museum that focuses mainly on art, sculpture, and inventions. There is also a permanent exhibit on the history of Wo­king. It has three exhibition rooms spread over three storeys with a café on the ground floor.

At Cas­tle Arch in Quarry Street is Guild­ford Mu­seum. This looks at the town’s historic past as well as the archaeology and history of the county of Sur­rey.

Loseley Park
GUILDFORD
At Lit­tle­ton you will find Lose­ley Park. This historic manor house is a Grade-I listed building. The principal room is the great hall and features a min­strel’s gallery, carvings by Grin­ling Gib­bons (1648 – 1721), and family portraits. The walled and moated grounds depict a number of different themes; for example, a Rose Gar­den, Herb Gar­den, and Flower Gar­den. You can also stretch your legs on the vine and moat walks.

Clandon Park
GUILDFORD
At West Clan­don is Clan­don Park. This Palladian-style 18th-century country house includes collections of family paintings, furniture, fine porcelain, and needlework. The grounds feature a parterre and grotto.

The Devil’s Punch bowl is a large natural amphitheatre and beauty spot; its highest point is Gib­bet Hill at 282 m (925 ft).

At Has­combe you will find Wink­worth Ar­bo­re­tum. This 38-ha (95-ac) hillside woodland has two lakes, many rare trees and shrubs, and some fine view­points.

Birdworld
FARNHAM
At Holt Pound in Hamp­shire (post town Farn­ham, in case you were wondering) is Bird­world. This is one of Eng­land’s biggest bird parks with 1,300 birds in 10.5 ha (26 ac) of parks and gardens. There is also a tropical walk, Pen­guin Is­land, and Un­der­wa­ter World.
