Bus services to get funding boost
06 Dec 2025
Government funding worth tens of millions of pounds will go towards supporting bus services in the south and west of England.
The Department for Transport (DfT), which will roll out the money between 2026 and 2029, said it would help local travel become more reliable.

Councils across the two regions will get a combined £139 million in funding to help improve both the bus services themselves and the network infrastructure.
Heidi Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport, said funds of £3 billion being spent across the UK would ‘give local authorities the long-term funding they need to deliver lower fares, more frequent services, and the reliable transport that communities depend on’.
