Free bus travel problems sorted
06 Dec 2025
Initial teething problems with free seasonal bus travel, provided across five of Berkshire’s local authorities, have now been ironed out, the boss of a local bus operator says.
Every Saturday until Christmas, residents in Bracknell Forest, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor & Maidenhead, and Wokingham can use some buses without paying; those in Bracknell Forest and Wokingham can get free travel on Sundays as well.

When the offer rolled out in Wokingham on Saturday 30th November, however, a small number of people were charged, but anyone affected will receive refunds, Robert Williams, CEO (chief executive officer) of Reading Buses, said.
Mr Williams added: ‘We are sorry for that, but, overall, lots of people used the bus last Sunday and we are expecting lots of people to use the bus this weekend.’
