New audio displays for bus stops

Reading Borough Council has installed more than 100 new announcement information displays at bus stops in the Berkshire town.

The new system aims to make real-time information about arrival times of buses more accessible to all passengers, the authority said.

The council added that the displays are ‘easier to read, have faster response times, and are more energy efficient’ than many of the old ones, which were ‘faded, difficult to read, and problematic to maintain and repair’.

‘Reading has an excellent bus network, and making it even easier to use and more accessible to everyone will help even more people get on board,’ John Ennis, Lead Councillor for Climate Strategy and Transport, said.
