Direct bus to train station wanted

A group of volunteers is campaigning for a new direct bus service to a nearby railway station in Somerset.

The Glastonbury Train Link organisation is raising funds to trial a direct bus route to Castle Cary station, where trains leave for London or Taunton.

The group has raised more than £20,000 so far, and is now trying to get hold of a pot of money — allocated for bus services — from Somerset Council.

Susannah Clemence, a trustee of Glastonbury Train Link, said: ‘You’d think that if there was a demand, something would exist; but how would it exist unless someone actually does it?’
