Royal Victoria Country Park

At Netley Abbey is the Royal Victoria Country Park. Opened in 1980 on the site of a famous military hospital, the grounds provide 109 ha (270 ac) of park and woodland by Southampton Water. Ideal for walking and picnicking, there is also a play area for children, a narrow gauge railway, and a nature and history trail. The Heritage Centre (not visited for this review) recalls the history of the hospital.
