Councillors challenge cuts

29 Jul 2022

Opposition councillors have challenged plans to cut dozens of council-subsidised bus routes in Kent.

Kent County Council (KCC) is planning to axe funding for 38 routes in an attempt to save £2.2 million.

Residents and bus companies have objected to the cuts, and Green Party councillors have called for a review of the decision.

David Brazier, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at KCC, said: ‘The council is under no obligation to support unviable bus services.’
