Pupils hurt in school bus crash

Three children sustained serious injuries when their school bus struck a railway bridge in Winchester, Hampshire.

A further 12 children needed treatment for minor injuries following the crash, which occurred in Well House Lane, Headbourne Worthy, shortly after 08 10 (8.10 a.m.).

The pupils, who were heading to The Henry Beaufort School in the city, ‘started screaming’ when the double-decker’s roof was torn off and fell on top of them.

Bus operator Stagecoach South said an investigation into the circumstances of the crash was under way.
