Mayor condemns TfL funding
21 Oct 2020
New government funding proposals for Transport for London (TfL) are ‘ill-advised and draconian’, according to Sadiq Khan.
The Mayor of London said ministers aim to impose a ‘triple whammy’ of measures in return for rescue funding to cover the losses incurred through COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019).

The proposals include a hike in bus and tube fares, an expanded congestion charge zone, and higher council taxes.
The Department for Transport (DfT), the government department responsible for overseeing the transport system, said talks over a settlement were ongoing.
