School bus driver pleads guilty

The driver of a school bus, which had its roof ripped off when it struck a railway bridge in Winchester, Hampshire, has pleaded guilty to causing injury by dangerous driving.

Martin Walker admitted the charge after three children sustained ‘life-threatening’ injuries in the crash on Thursday 10th September 2020.

The Stagecoach South double-decker was taking 74 pupils, aged between 11 and 16, to the city’s Henry Beaufort School.

Sentencing for Walker, who is 36 and from Southampton, Hampshire, is due to take place on Friday 9th July.
