Bus attacks discussed

Bus firms, councillors, and police have met to discuss measures to stamp out a spate of brick and catapult attacks on a city’s buses.
Operators in Southampton, Hampshire, have reported about 60 attacks on their buses in the past six months.

Police say they have referred two boys — aged 12 and 14 — to youth services after finding catapults on them.
Yesterday’s meeting heard that extra police patrols would continue and that the council could remove designated vegetation, which offenders might be using as cover.
