Concerns over speed limit

Oxfordshire County Council has delayed a decision about whether to introduce a 20-mph (32-kph) speed limit in a town, following a bus operator’s concerns.

Oxford Bus Company warned the council that the move would lead to a reduction in bus services in Abingdon.

Oxfordshire County Council proposes lower speed limits for major routes in the town, including Oxford Road.

Cllr Andrew Gant, Cabinet Member for Transport Management at the authority, said he was ‘passionately committed to the policy’.
