Free bus travelcard for veterans

Veterans in Gloucestershire looking for work are now able to get a free travelcard providing free bus travel.

The scheme, introduced by Gloucestershire County Council, will be available to military veterans claiming Universal Credit or receiving a DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) benefit in the county.

Created in partnership with the DWP and Jobcentre Plus, each card allows the user to make up to 50 single bus trips for free.

Cllr Andrew Gravells, Armed Forces Covenant Champion, said it was ‘important we can give them something back’.
