Bridge weight limit affects routes

20 Aug 2024

Oxfordshire County Council has imposed a weight limit on a busy bridge in Oxford, forcing a change in bus routes.

The authority has banned vehicles over 7.5 t (148 cwt) from crossing Donnington Bridge while it assesses the structure’s condition.

Andrew Gant, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport Management, said the authority was conscious of the disruption the move would cause.

‘We’ll be guided by the experts in terms of what happens next and we will keep the public fully informed,’ Cllr Gant added.
