PM says bus fare cap will rise

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced that the single bus fare cap in England is set to rise in the upcoming Budget.
The existing cap, which is due to expire at the end of the year, is currently set at £2; throughout 2025, however, fares will be capped at £3.

The previous Conservative government introduced the bus fare cap on Sunday 1st January 2023 to help with the cost of living and to encourage more people to use buses.
Sir Keir said: ‘I do know how much this matters, particularly in rural communities where there is heavy reliance on buses.’
