Council leaders in Southampton, Hampshire, are facing growing pressure over a controversial bus gate trial, with opposition politicians leading calls for a resignation.
Two separate petitions have attracted hundreds of signatures calling for Southampton City Council to scrap the scheme in Portswood.

The six-month trial, which began in January, permits only buses, taxis, and bicycles to travel along stretches of Portswood Road at certain hours.
Southampton City Council’s Conservative group has called on the Labour council’s transport chief to resign over the scheme.
