Funding for zero-emission buses

Two councils in our region are among 12 local authorities to receive a share of £37.5 million of government funding for new zero-emission buses.

The government has allocated Brighton & Hove City Council £2,360,656 for 13 vehicles, while Surrey County Council will get £1,740,820 for 12 vehicles.

Simon Lightwood, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Transport, said the investment would support the local economy and ‘make bus travel cleaner, greener, and more comfortable’.

Mr Lightwood added: ‘By backing local councils and UK manufacturers, we are putting the power in the hands of communities.’
