Bus fares kept below national cap

21 Apr 2025

Brighton & Hove City Council has confirmed it will continue to discount bus fares from later this month.

The authority will cap short- and medium-length trips across the city below the national £3 single-journey price, which rose earlier this year.

Cllr Trevor Muten, Cabinet Member for Transport, Parking, and Public Realm, said the cap was ‘really good news for thousands of people who use the city’s buses’.

Brighton & Hove City Council said it would subsidise prices for medium journeys from Monday 28th April until the autumn, while ‘short-hop’ travel would remain at £1 until ‘at least the end of the year’.
