New fleet for Plymouth Citybus

12 May 2025

Plymouth Citybus will soon roll out the first of its new fleet of electric vehicles onto the streets of Devon and Cornwall.

The operator is replacing some of its current diesel vehicles with 50 zero-emission double-decker buses as part of a £32 million project.

Bosses at the firm hope that the move will reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality; it will also make journeys smoother for passengers.

Plymouth Citybus has funded most of the project, at a cost of nearly £20 million, with the rest of the funding coming from a government grant and contributions from Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council.
