Bus driver jailed over girl’s death

Woolwich Crown Court has jailed a bus driver after he killed a nine-year-old girl in Bexleyheath, Greater London, when he fell asleep at the wheel.
Ada Bicakci, who was riding her bike on the pavement in August 2024, sustained ‘catastrophic injuries’ when the bus struck her; she died in hospital two days after the collision.

In April, Martin Asolo-Ogugua pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs; yesterday, he received a four-year prison sentence.
The 23-year-old, from Southwark, had failed a drug test at the scene of the crash, having taken cannabis the night before.
