Rapist jailed following attack

A court has jailed a man for eight years after he followed a woman off a bus in Bristol and raped her.

Haithum Alsuliman, of Nags Head Hill in the White’s Hill area of the city, attacked the woman in Salisbury Avenue, St George, on Wednesday 30th March.

Police reviewed CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage of the area and arrested and charged the 35-year-old; the victim had been able to identify her attacker from images held on the police systems.

Alsuliman initially denied the charge but changed his story after DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) evidence came to light.
