Residents ‘stranded’ by bus cut

People living in Ramsbury and Aldbourne — two villages in Wiltshire — say an operator’s decision to axe a bus route on Saturdays has left them ‘stranded’.

Stagecoach West said it was forced to cut the number 46, which runs between Swindon (Wiltshire) and Hungerford (Berkshire), due to low usage at weekends, and it will now only run Monday – Friday.

One user said Stagecoach in Swindon had given passengers very little warning of the change to the timetable.

As the buses serving the Hungerford section of the route no longer run on Saturdays, Wiltshire Council will save £18,000 from its budget.
