Car hits man at bus stop

Police have arrested a driver after a car crashed into a man waiting at a bus stop in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex.

A black Jaguar was travelling southbound when it crashed on the A270 Lewes Road, Brighton, at 23 56 (11.56 p.m.) yesterday evening.

Sussex Police said the 24-year-old pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the crash and remains in hospital.

The force subsequently arrested the driver of the car — a 42-year-old woman from Reigate, Surrey — on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, after she failed a roadside breath test.
