Free Saturday bus scheme

Bus travel will be free on six Saturdays before Christmas for passengers travelling in Wokingham, Berkshire.

The borough council approved the plans to make shopping in the build-up to the festive season easier and to provide a boost to business.

Funding for the scheme, which applies to travel on Reading Buses and Thames Valley Buses from Saturday 18th November, does not come from a council tax or a national grant.

Wokingham Borough Council said it hoped the free travel days would encourage residents to use buses more.
