Bus lane cameras installed

Gloucestershire County Council is switching on new cameras in Cheltenham to stop motorists using bus lanes.

The authority is putting up signs to warn people about the cameras, which are at two locations near GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) and Barley Road in Prestbury.

Phillip Williams, assistant director of traffic and transport at Gloucestershire County Council, said it would help to keep buses on schedule.

Mr Williams added that the authority was investing £4.5 million in buses and did not want them stuck in unnecessary traffic jams.
