‘Lifeline’ bus service set to return
31 Aug 2025
Residents of a rural town in Gloucestershire are celebrating the return of a bus service — described as a ‘lifeline’ — following a yearlong fight.
Campaigner Barbara Lawrence, organiser of the bus group ‘Save the W-u-E to Yate’, said: ‘I was devastated, for myself and so many others … [when it was cancelled].’

From tomorrow, however, the Y8 bus will link Wotton-under-Edge with Yate, on the edge of Bristol, and run 15 times on weekdays and 12 times on Saturdays.
The former 84/85 services, which covered Wotton-under-Edge, ended in September 2024 due to funding issues between neighbouring councils.
