Bus driver strikes off after pay deal

02 Oct 2025

A decision to accept a new pay deal has averted strike action by 600 bus drivers in Bristol working on the Citylines services.

The First West of England drivers had previously walked out — from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd September — causing mass disruption to inner-city services.

At the time, the operator would not commit to back pay, but Unite the Union says the drivers have now reached a deal on an 8.6% pay increase for the last two years.

First West of England said it was ‘pleased to be able to continue providing regular bus services’, and thanked customers for their patience.
