Bus fare PC’s misconduct proven

16 Oct 2025

An officer from the Metropolitan Police, who arrested a woman in 2023 for bus fare evasion in Greater London, committed misconduct, a disciplinary panel has found.

Perry Lathwood will receive a written warning, after a three-day hearing found he breached professional standards when he called Jocelyn Agyemang, who had been travelling with her young son, a ‘daft cow’ during the incident in Croydon.

The hearing cleared PC Lathwood of allegations of discreditable conduct and breaching standards relating to use of force — including applying handcuffs — and equality and diversity.

The officer, who originally received a £1,500 fine for assaulting Ms Agyemang, had his conviction quashed in September 2024.
