PM’s pledge for bus services

The government is set to pledge £5 billion over the next five years to help improve bus and cycling services in England.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will say the extra money will provide more frequent services and simpler, more affordable fares.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid said these are the kind of ‘essential’ investments that ‘people want to see’.
The Labour Party, however, has accused the PM of refusing to reverse ‘£645 million-a-year cuts to bus budgets, which have caused thousands of routes to be axed’.
