Green light for driver’s ‘Thank you’

Developers have given the green light to naming a new road in Bristol ‘Cheers Drive’, after the local term used to thank a bus driver.

In a 2018 poll, residents were able to suggest names for the road, which will be on a housing development in Speedwell.

Cllr Mhairi Threlfall said: ‘I’ve been laughing to myself for two years about this and now [the developers] have come back and said “it’s fine”.’

Work on the development of four streets near the Crofts End area of the city, close to Brook Road and Crofts End Road, is under way.
