Future of rural service secured

Somerset Council has secured the future of a crucial bus service ahead of roadworks on a substantial section of its route.

The 96 bus serves Chard, Crewkerne, Misterton, North Perrott, East Chinnock, West Coker, and Yeovil.

The seven-year contract for the service — which runs between Boden Street in Chard and the bus station in Yeovil — was due to expire on Saturday 15th July.

Somerset Council has now reappointed the current operator, South West Coaches, to run the service.
