Trial return for park-and-ride

A park-and-ride bus service — suspended by a council in Berkshire at the start of the coronavirus pandemic — has restarted as a trial.

The Winnersh Triangle route 500 bus, which runs from Wokingham to Reading, will operate every Saturday from today.

Wokingham Borough Council is to use part of a DfT (Department for Transport) grant to fund its return.

The authority has said, however, that if not enough people are using the service by March next year, it will withdraw it again.
