Council set to approve bus lanes

Reading is set to get six new bus lanes on key routes in the Berkshire town, despite criticism from local businesses.

The local authority would create lanes on Bath Road, London Road, Oxford Road, and Southampton Street as part of a £26 million investment in bus services.

Some traders, however, have criticised the proposal, describing it as ‘a nail in the coffin’ for businesses.

Reading Borough Council said the new bus lanes would ‘cut congestion and improve the environment’.
