Bus lane programme ‘paused’

North Somerset Council has paused its plans to roll out more bus lanes following complaints about the disruption caused by their construction.

The authority has created a number of bus lanes across the district after receiving record funding from the government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BISP).

Members of the public, however, as well as some councillors, have said the lanes have been more trouble than they are worth.

The current bus lane scheme is now on hold until November to allow the council to review the infrastructure programme.
