Bus workers set to strike again

Passengers in Somerset and Cornwall have been warned of disruption over the coming days due to industrial action over pay and conditions.

RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers) members in both counties will be striking tomorrow and Monday 12th August; they will also be withholding overtime on the days in between.

FirstBus (South West) said the disruption would only affect Buses of Somerset, Cornwall by Kernow, and Adventures by Bus services.

A spokesperson for the operator said its latest ‘full and final substantial offer’ for all pay grades was an ‘above-inflation offer … [that] follows a significant pay increase of 17.6% in December 2022’.
