Change of plan for city bus lane

In the face of opposition, Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) has reviewed plans to introduce a bus lane on a main road.

Councillors had planned to make the lane on Fore Street in Heavitree operational for 12 hours, with cameras monitoring any infringements.

Some businesses in the area said it would be impossible to continue trading if people could not make deliveries or collections throughout the day.

Exeter HATOC has now come up with new proposals for the bus lane to operate from 7 00 (7 a.m.) – 10 00 (10 a.m.) and from 16 00 (4 p.m.) – 19 00 (7 p.m.) Monday – Saturday.
