Major roadworks after bus fire

Major roadworks are to take place in Eastleigh, Hampshire, after a fire on a double-decker bus caused ‘significant damage’.

Hampshire County Council (HCC) said Southampton Road would remain closed over the weekend for repairs.

Witnesses reported hearing ‘loud bangs’ when the blaze took hold at about 17 30 (5.30 p.m.) yesterday afternoon.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service (HIWFRS) said it was not investigating the incident and had not yet established what caused the fire.
