Unite warns over face masks

A union has said public transport workers will be at a greater risk of infection if passengers no longer have to wear face masks.

Reports suggest the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, will later confirm that the government is to lift the majority of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) restrictions in England from Monday 19th July.

Making face masks voluntary and ending social distancing will be among the PM’s press conference announcements.

The Unite union has said dropping the wearing of face masks on public transport would be ‘gross negligence’.
