Double-decker bus hits bridge

A bus has crashed in Bath, Somerset, after the driver went under a bridge that was too low for the double-decker to pass beneath.

The U5 Bath City bus service struck the bridge in Lower Bristol Road, Twerton, at about 1830 (6.30p.m.).

No one sustained any injuries in the crash, which involved a vehicle operated by FirstBus, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The force added that fire and rescue crews were still at the scene and that the road would remain closed until further notice.
