Train firm needs buses

12 Apr 2023

Rail replacement bus services — needed due to the closure of a railway viaduct in Oxfordshire — will be a ‘bigger challenge’ after the Easter holidays, a train firm has said.

Trains are unable to run between Didcot Parkway and Oxford because of the emergency closure of the Nuneham Viaduct.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said it was now trying to source buses, as many of the coaches it is currently using will return to school runs from Monday 17th April.

GWR does not expect to be able to run trains on the stretch of line again until Saturday 10th June.
