Hamster rescued from bus

22 May 2023

The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) rescued an unwanted pet hamster from a bus in Barnet, Greater London.

The discovery of the Russian Dwarf hamster — abandoned in her cage, along with fresh bedding, food, and water — occurred earlier this month at Brent Cross.

Staff at the RSPCA collected her and named her Ivana, before taking her to the Southridge Animal Centre in Hertfordshire for re-homing.

The charity said it had seen increasing numbers of owners abandoning small pets as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.
