Mayor urged to save routes

26 May 2023

Passengers have urged the Mayor of the West of England to step in to save threatened bus routes in the region.

Mayor Dan Norris, however, has previously been told by the government that he cannot use their £57 million grant to fund supported buses, which local councils run.

Three services will cease operating next week when B&NES [Bath & North East Somerset] Council withdraws funding.

The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Roads and Local Transport), Richard Holden, said he would ensure ‘maximum flexibility’ to help preserve and enhance bus routes.
